Birchcliff L.O.L. 2856 recieved its warrent in 1922 and centered around the Birchcliff Road in the Kingston Road and Warden Avenue area of Scarborough. It imitialy net at St. Nicolas Anglican Church and after this met in Byng Avenue Hall. In the 1950's thge lodge built its own Orange Hall on Byng Ave. South. By 1969 the proposed Scarborough Expressway idea had been firmed up and the Westbound lanes were going to go smack through the hall so negotiations were being made to sell the property to Metro Toronto.
At the Same time the Salvation Army indicated that their church on Byne Ave, just north of Danforth was for sale. Both deals were completed in 1969. The lodge ended up with Birchcliff Orange Centrer and no mortgage. The lodge at this this time had a boost when Corination L.O.L. amalgamated with them. Under its original charter Birchcliff was under the jurisdiction of the County Orange Lodge of East York. In 1979 County Lodge boundries were reorganized and at this time Birchcliff transfered to the County Orange Lodge of Metro Toronto as part of Eastern District.
